OPEN SECRET is a jazz waltz [and part of a series of pieces with oxymoronic titles]. The themes alternate between short motivic figures and flowing lines with beautiful leaps. The changes flow from modal D minor to more challenging harmonic passages. There is a section for improvising. We have had success dividing the long solo form into halves: first time, Guitar 1 & 2 trade 16m phrases; Guitar 3 & 4 trade. [Either way, I want a solo on this one.]
The melody returns in a more active form after the solos. This chart is at once exciting and a nice soaring flow piece.

is that funk tune you are looking for. The rhythms look tricky, and some are, but everyone gets them after a first hearing. Solo form over Gm [8] Em [4] Gm [4], then some ensemble and then a return for more solos. Could you stretch out, play some side-slipping lines, kick in a pedal, bend a string? All of the above.

is a contrafact over a familiar waltz form, but played instead in four. The chord changes are familiar. There is a good balance of ensemble tutti sections, contrapuntal independence, and dynamic ranges. The rhythms are jazz inflected and require swinging. There is an improvisation section for any and all. After the solo section, the recapitulation is more development of the main themes.
